EKIALDEA IN THE EUROPEAN YOUTH PARLIAMENT. (14th /16th February)

The European Youth Parliament is a peer-to-peer educational programme that empowers young people from across Europe to be open-minded, tolerant and active citizens. They provide participants with a forum to develop and express their opinions on a wide range of topics. By bringing young people from different backgrounds together, they build intercultural understanding and friendships across borders.
The European Youth Parliament (EYP) is an apolitical and non-partisan organisation with an educational spirit aimed at the needs of European youth. It encourages young people to have critical and independent thinking mindsets and facilitates the learning of social and political skills, crucial in their future. Today, it is one of the largest platforms in terms of political debate, international meetings, learning and exchange of ideas among young people.

International, regional and national sessions are at the core of the EYP’s non-formal educational activities, and consist of events that bring together over 30,000 young people every year. A welcoming environment and experience-based methodology offer participants a safe space to develop and express their opinions, build intercultural understanding and develop democratic citizenship skills.
Urko Aguillo, Zahira Jiménez , Xabi Vallejo (4th DBH) and Eneko Anta, Iñigo González and Febo Napoleón (1st Batxilergo) took an active part in the regional conference of the European Youth Parliament held in Vitoria -Gasteiz (14th /16th February) together with their peers from other secondary schools. They were divided into six groups known as committees (Foreign Affairs, Culture and Education, Human Rights, Environmental Affairs, Women´s Rights and Gender Equality and Terrorism. ) The result of Committee Work was the draft of a series of proposals to solve the problem they were discussing.
It was a great opportunity to make new friends and taste a new experience far from our daily classroom routine. Urko, Eneko and Febo were appointed to take part in the National Conference in Barcelona in April. As we all know, the Covid 19 pandemic has prevented all social events and this session is expected to be held in October. Our heartfelt congrats to all our students. We are really proud of them.
